Moons and the Zodiac

Dalelands have two moons, Cronos (the timekeeper) that goes though a New moon/full moon cycle every 30 days, and is used to pace the months of the year. Many view the design on the full moon to look like a dragon, fitting into the myth of Cronos the Dragon of time Myth.

it also has a second moon, known as Arvon. This moon orbit is somewhat erratic, and generally never is in a full or new state. Instead it waxes and wanes in a way that even the sages of Atydum are unsure on the timing. From the 1st day of Morning Star to the first day of Evening Star, it can be seen in the day, and from 1st day of Evening Star to 1st day of Morning Star it can be seen only at night.

Each time this switch happens, it is viewed as a progression on the Daleland Zodiac, which has nine signs, Dragon, Snake, Dog, Ox, Axe, Horse, Rabbit, Tower, and Shadow. These are sometimes known as birthsigns, and there is a wide codex work trying to prove, or disprove the notion that the Zodiac sign and if Arvon is waxing or waning are important.

That said, being born under any sign when the rare cases of Arvon being full or new is viewed by a most a great (if full) or banefull (if new) sign of fate.
